THIS YEAR WAS SO .GAY (AGAIN)! 🏳️🌈
50 of the (Dot)Gayest Moments of 2021
This year was our very first full calendar year as a big, gay brand — and what a year it was!
To say that these are turbulent times we are living in is both an understatement AND has somehow been overstated to the point where the phrase has lost all meaning. But the times are turbulent. That’s real.
LGBTQ+ communities have been hit hard by the pandemic. The community organizations we support have never been so vital, so incredibly essential, as they have been during this time when so many gay bars closed, queer community centers had to go virtual, and beloved businesses shut down their brick and mortar offices, stores, and restaurants.
But LGBTQ+ people are resilient! The magic of our communities met this moment in time and created new pathways for connection, celebration, and gay joy.
At .gay, we are proud to be one of those pathways. For everyone on our team, it has been such an honor and privilege to help grow and steward the community of .gay domains this year with all of you.
In collaboration with our partner network, we reached over 13.4 million people with .gay messaging in 2021, bringing our total reach since launch to more than 36 million people. In addition, .gay’s Revry series The Library added another 134,276 views in 2021, bringing the total series views to over 2.4 million since the show premiered. Most exciting of all, over 15,000 of you have registered your own .gay domain names since we launched!
We are celebrating having raised over $168,000 for our beneficiaries GLAAD and CenterLink so far, and we’re so grateful for every domain registered helping that donation amount grow.
And speaking of celebrations… it’s time to pop bottles and blow your noisemakers because the 2nd annual (Dot)Gayest Year list has arrived! This is not a comprehensive list, and is in no particular order.
