As the year winds down and the world turns toward holidays, rituals, and reflection, there is comfort in tradition. But for many LGBTQIA+ people, tradition often comes with baggage. It can be tied to expectations, rejection, or customs that don’t feel inclusive or affirming. The good news is that Queer people are experts at reinvention. When the old rules don’t serve us, we create new ones. That spirit of creativity and resilience is especially powerful during the holiday season. It’s why so many LGBTQIA+ folks build their own celebrations, rooted in chosen family, authenticity, and joy.
