Welcome to this week’s .gay Music Monday Feature! This round we're thrilled to have award-winning singer-songwriter Tom Goss as our guest.

In his latest album, "Remember What It Feels Like” we catch a glimpse into who Tom is as a person — fully embracing his journey of self-discovery, love, heartbreak, and growth. All 15 tracks of the album explore his own experiences, and they will take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions.

We had the pleasure of chatting with Tom about his love for music and what it means to be an out and proud musician. Buckle up and dive into the world of Tom Goss below.

What inspired you to start playing and making music?

Music was the only way I could feel for a long time. It’s still the source of my deepest and most honest emotions. Music has a magical way of transcending our walls and helping us relate to the world and each other.

I wanted to be a part of that healing magic.

What do you like most about playing music?

I love being a conduit to the magic I described above. Honestly, I still don’t know how my music is made. I know that’s a weird sentence, but it’s true. I feel grateful to be able to tap into something that’s bigger than me, and bring that to life for the world to see.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

I think it would be best described as positive pop. Usually, it is acoustically driven, but not always. More than anything, I want the listener to think, smile, laugh, or all of the above.

Why do you think it’s important to be out and proud in the music industry?

Art is best when it is authentic to the artist that creates it. If you’re closeted, how can you be truly authentic to your voice?

As an LGBTQ+ artist, what do you want to convey with your music?

Authenticity. I want to be me, openly, honestly, and brilliantly shining as my true self. Hopefully by doing so I will not only find my own joy, but also help others do the same.
