LGBTQIA+ Health Consultant Clare Madrigal Launches ReachEducation.gay

Clare Madrigal, BSN, RN, is a queer nurse, healthcare educator, nutritionist, speaker, and business consultant.

“As a LGBTQIA+ health educator, my goal is to help create LGBTQIA+ inclusion in all aspects of healthcare,” says Clare. “My training gives healthcare providers the tools to create competent, affirming practices and organizations.”

LGBTQ people face many challenges when it comes to seeking healthcare. If medical professionals and staff are not educated about the unique needs of LGBTQ patients, that lack of cultural understanding can result in unwelcoming environments, discriminative practices, and less effective medical care.

Clare’s work helps to elevate the visibility of LGBTQ people and issues within the medical field, and her .gay domain is helping her spread the word about her professional services. The “Reach” in ReachEducation.gay stands for “Rainbow Education And Consulting for Health.”

“I am proud to be an out queer nurse,” Clare explains. “Visibility provides LGBTQIA+ patients and colleagues with a level of ease and familiarity that makes our community feel safe. Allies and other queer healthcare providers are an integral part of addressing health disparities in our community. Expanding LGBTQIA+ specific cultural competency to individuals and organizations will ultimately reshape the overall system.”
