.gay Music Monday Feature: House of Manchic

Pride weekend may be over, but the party's just getting started!

In our latest .gay Music Monday Feature, we bring you an awesome chat with our social media guru, Jorge Gallegos — aka DJ House of Manchic – where he spills the tea on his new venture as DJ. Plus, an exclusive Pride mix featuring his favorite dance tracks and some throwback queer anthems, all with a fierce twist.

Ready for a kiki? Then listen to the “House of Manchic” Pride Mix and read our interview below.

What inspired you to start playing and making music?

House of Manchic was actually born during quarantine (cue the dramatic music). It was a tough time, being stuck at home and all, but music was my saving grace. I mean, do you remember all those DJs killing it on Twitch from their living rooms? It was straight-up inspiring!

The energy and positivity I found in the Twitch community sparked in me the idea of learning how to DJ. I've always liked music and entertainment, and it also seemed like a natural evolution as a content creator.

What do you like most about playing music?

For me, it's all about creating the vibe and getting the crowd hype! There's nothing more magical than when the whole room vibes with the tunes I'm mixing. Like, I’ve got some tracks that give me all the feels, you know? They give me chills, make me wanna tear up, or lift up my spirits.  When I'm spinnin', I wanna take everyone on that same emotional journey!

How would you describe the music that you typically play?

It's a sick blend of Melodic House & Techno, Progressive House, and Dance/Electro Pop bangers. My sets are packed with my top tracks of the moment and songs that make the crowd go wild. And I live for that epic beat drop!

Why do you think it’s important to be out and proud in the music industry?

I come from a small Mexican town where it wasn't cool to be gay. It wasn't until I moved to NYC and witnessed extravagant club kids, badass drag queens, and fierce go-go dancers proudly owning their true selves that I realized the power of representation. That's when I finally embraced my queer identity fully and decided that I was going to live my most fearless and authentic self.

As an LGBTQIA+ artist, what do you want to convey with House of Manchic?

I'm all about elevating my audience’s vibration and healing through the power of music. It's my way of me continuing to give back and showing up for my community as well as showing pride in being my authentic self. If that inspires others to do the same and find their own power, then mission accomplished.

Now. tell us more about this Pride Mix?

I'm stoked to be able to showcase my skills with the .gay community. I'm still refining my craft, but I can tell you that this mix is something special - it features my favorite dance tracks and some throwback queer anthems, all with a fierce House of Manchic twist. It's the perfect set for Pride season and beyond.

Anything else you’d like the .gay audience to know before we go?
