Over Portland Pride Weekend, DotGay proudly presented Pride in Demand: Portland Queer Takeover!, a two-night LGBTQIA+ entertainment experience co-produced by The Gaybors Group that brought together Queer and Trans artists, audiences, and community partners to celebrate Pride through music, drag, comedy, and storytelling.
Designed as more than a live event, Pride in Demand: Portland Queer Takeover served as a multi-platform Pride campaign that combined in-person experiences with digital activation — creating meaningful opportunities for LGBTQ+ artists to grow their visibility both on stage and online, in collaboration with .gay domains.
Campaign Highlights
Live Events
- Two nights of LGBTQIA+ entertainment during Portland Pride Weekend
- 16 featured artists and performers across Friday and Saturday
- 300+ attendees each night
- 22 community and brand partners
Video Storytelling Series
Leading up to the event, DotGay and The Gaybors Group launched an original video storytelling series spotlighting participating artists, as well as LGBTQIA+ community members and attendees of the Portland Pride Festival. Each video featured authentic conversations about identity, creativity, community, and the importance of visibility — allowing audiences to connect with performers before they ever stepped onto the stage. Each video also featured a freshly activated .gay domain, used by performers and talent to direct audiences to the main event page and ticketing site.
The series extended the reach of the campaign beyond the venue, creating shareable Pride content that celebrated LGBTQIA+ voices across social media.
- 21 pre-event talent videos produced and published on DotGay social channels
- 19 community member videos produced and published on DotGay social channels
- 57,251 social media impressions
- 3,242 social media engagements
.gay Digital Identity Activation
As part of the campaign, DotGay activated personalized .gay domains for participating artists, helping each performer establish a memorable digital identity that reflects who they are and provides fans with a direct path to discover their work.
The initiative demonstrated how a domain can be more than a web address — it can be an expression of identity, belonging, and pride. (See GuyBranum.gay and ILoveMakonnen.gay for examples of how this .gay use case strategy was integrated)
More Than an Event
Portland Queer Takeover showcased how live experiences and digital initiatives can work together to amplify LGBTQ+ creators. By combining performances, storytelling, and personalized online identities, the campaign created opportunities for artists that extend well beyond Pride Weekend.
For DotGay, the campaign reflects a continued commitment to supporting LGBTQ+ communities — not only through visibility, but by providing meaningful tools that help queer creators grow their audiences, own their identities online, and build lasting connections with their communities.
